Events to learn about the life and legacy of Sister Teresa Chikaba, organised in collaboration with the Association, the Dominican Sisters and other institutions in Salamanca.
Held at 19:00 in the Aula Magna of the Pontifical Faculty of Theology of San Esteban. Speakers were Amparo Sanz Albornos on Sister Teresa’s life and reputation for holiness, Enrique Valdeón Gómez on her iconography, and Sister Cristina Tobaruela, OP, on the cause for canonization.
Consult the Diocese’s programmeThe Association was founded at the Monastery of Our Lady of Consolation in Salamanca, with the aim of sharing Sister Teresa’s life and virtues. Its board was chaired by Amparo Sanz Albornos, with Enrique Cabero Morán as vice-chair, Fr. Luis A. García Matamoro, OP, as member, and Sister Cristina Tobaruela, OP, as secretary.
Read the Order of Preachers’ news storyThe exhibition opened on the first floor of El Tormes Shopping Centre to introduce the public to her life, spirituality and legacy. Amparo Sanz Albornos, president of the Association, took part in the opening.
View the Diocese’s report and photographsAt 19:30, the Bishop of Salamanca, Bishop José Luis Retana, presided over a Eucharist at the Monastery of Our Lady of Consolation. The Association was publicly recognised during the celebration; afterwards, a gathering was held in the cloister beside Sister Teresa’s tomb.

Consult the Diocese’s announcementThe Association hosted this gathering at Las Dueñas convent to welcome Sister Salomé, who is connected with the new Dominican monastery founded in Kenya by the Dominican Sisters of Trujillo and entrusted to Sister Teresa Chikaba. Dominican Sisters from Salamanca and Trujillo and friends of the Dominican family attended. Amparo Sanz shared her recent visit to Kenya and the first steps of this contemplative community.
